About Larry Betz




Lawrence Betz
started serious physical training in junior high school when he became a gymnast. He continued through high school, where he entered the state championship two years consecutively. His interest in physical fitness developed from there and extended to martial arts training. Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, in particular, is where he excelled and became a 3rd degree back belt as well as 1st degree in two other styles in Aiki Jiu-Jitsu. Later, he received certification in Filipinos Arnis.

At the Renzo Gracie Academy he learned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, reached blue belt and studied at the Judo Karate Center in Cranford, New Jersey. It was during this time that Larry became increasingly interested in and developed a true passion for overall health, strength and conditioning.

Today, Larry persists in educational studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and continues Kettlebell Training with Steve Cotter of AKC and Vince Metzo of Kettlebell Concepts. He has also received a Level 1 certificate from the Titleist Performance Institute in Golf Training.

Larry Betz is the Director of Personal Training as well as Co-Founder at Maxim Health and Fitness, he has two children, Olivia & Larry Jr., and currently resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
